Tragic end for the mining disaster as the fourth body found in coal mine
The body of a fourth miner was discovered in Gleision Colliery in South Wales last night, in a final devastating blow to a small Welsh community was stubbornly clinging to the hope that someone would be drawn live on the earth. “We tried to make safe conclusion. Unfortunately, the conclusion we have is one none of us wanted,” said Peter Vaughan, Chief Constable of South Wales Police confirmed that Phillip Hill, Charles Breslin, David Powell and Garry Jenkins all slain in the worst mining disaster in Britain three decades. Mining disaster appeal fund launched to support families
As public honors were the four men who died in the South Wales mining tragedy, local Neath MP Peter Hain launches the Swansea Valley Miners appeal fund to support families of the victims. Local people have started to mark the tragedy with Gleision tribute to Phillip Hill, 45, Charles Breslin, 62, David Powell, 50, and Garry Jenkins, 39, who all died when the shaft they were working in flooded on Thursday.
Another card said: “As for ‘bull’ Dai, whom we knew well, this is difficult to take and can not believe you’re gone You were an absolute star and a legend in your own way you never failed to make someone laugh to do .. and we’ll miss your smile, that’s for sure. The Chile Mine Disaster: one year later
On August 5, 2010, the earth opened in northern Chile and swallowed 33 miners. For 69 days the men were caught half past twelve miles to bottom. The miners remained strong and more than two months later, all 33 men were picked up. The rescue was viewed by more than one billion people, so many of them a sense of hope that the miracle is still possible.

Upper large branch: “An accident waiting to happen”
