dow jones Tokyo stocksLONDON (Dow Jones) – Tokyo stocks posted moderate declines Monday, the Nikkei Stock Average closing at its lowest level for years, after Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan and Bank of Japan governor Masaaki Shirakawa showed little to make progress on tackling The weak economy in what was a happy anticpated discussion.

The markets were hoping the two would be a clear policy deadlock between the government and central bank to reverse any action can be taken to a slowdown in the economy and to avert the Japanese yen to stop a climb that has hit exporters hard. Read more
