SAN FRANCISCO – An offshore oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico has exploded with at least one person missing so far, according to media reports Thursday. The harness is 80 miles south of Vermillion Bay is located in the coast of Louisiana and west of the oil rig blast in April. About 12 people were reportedly in the water, although their condition is unknown, says CNN. The set is owned by Mariner Energy (ME 22.69, -0.06, -0.26%), the network said. Mariner Energy shares are down 4.4% to $ 22.32 in recent action.
