Old coal mine may become a museum


old coal mineBruceville, Ind. (WTHI) – A southern Indiana county looks for ways to make a long-abandoned coal mine into a community asset. The shops of the old shutdown Enoco Mine near Bruceville were in the 1960s when the mine closed. The shops and the rest of the 127 acres was given to Knox County. The county parks department is hard to find the buildings that were built in the early 1900s as a possible location for a museum for my children.

“It will be a long process, but it will be exciting because we may not have the money now, but there are resources out there that we can tap into for the financing of such projects to help”, Knox County Parks Superintendent Chase Ellis words.

Officials said the museum would hand in my hand with teaching children about regeneration.

The state is just completing a project is using wetlands to clean polluted waters.
