Despite the uncontrolled oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama has plans for a visit next week to an Ohio factory that steel pipes used by oil and gas industry, announces the White House Friday. Obama’s official timetable calls for him to visit on Tuesday of Vallourec and Mannesmann (V & M) Star plant in Youngstown, Ohio, who has used the economic incentive funds to the site to expand and eventually double the size of its workforce.
White House said Obama would deliver a speech to workers on new jobs and the economy after exploring the facilities, which they described as a “steel production.”
The company, which was 81 percent owned by French company Vallourec, said on its website that it is the largest North American producer of seamless pipes for the oil and gas industry. ”

Asked whether the visit is Obama’s image problems are at a time when the Gulf of Mexico is threatened by a catastrophic oil spill, the White House press secretary, Robert Gibbs, had no immediate comment.
