Donkin Coal project is a coal mining project is managed by a joint venture between Erdene and Swiss mining giant Xstrata, Xstrata Coal Canada. Donkin Coal project located in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
Xstrata Coal, as a project manager, has initiated a number of key elements of the project in the previous month, including civil construction, engineering and pre-feasibility study, environmental assessment studies and consultations with government officials.
The result of the revision of the Donkin Coal project is estimated that the production of coking coal can be produced from this mine reached 2.75 million mt of coal per year and production will begin in 2011.
